20th - 31st May 2027 | £3680
3 surf retreats.
Three stages of the season.
Two surf guides.
1 private photographer.
8 women only.
Our 10-day Mentawai Island Escapes are designed for intermediate to advanced surfers ready to experience one of the world’s most wave-rich surf destinations, with conditions tailored to support real progression at every level.
The people you surf with matter. We put a lot of thought into creating groups where women can relate to one another, share similar goals and feel comfortable pushing themselves together.
The result is a crew where everyone can feel challenged without feeling out of depth, supported without feeling held back, and excited to celebrate each other’s progress.
Each retreat is designed around the conditions of the season and the surfers who will get the most from them — from playful, forgiving waves perfect for progression to powerful peak-season swells.
Whether you’re looking to refine your technique, build confidence in bigger waves or simply surf your heart out with an inspiring crew of women, there’s a retreat for you.
꩜ The Escape
꩜ The Pre-Retreat Homework
Before you join us, we’ll ask you to complete a detailed Enrolment Form so we can get to know you a little better. We’ll ask about your previous surf experience, your goals for the trip, your fitness and confidence levels, and what you’re hoping to get from the experience.
We’ll ask you to share a few photos or videos of you surfing. This helps us make sure you’re signing up for the retreat that’s right for your level and goals, while giving our surf guides an insight into your surfing before you even arrive.
That means from your very first session, we already have a sense of where you’re at, what you want to work on and how we can best support your progression!
꩜ Surf, Film, Feedback, Repeat
The best way to improve your surfing? See it. Break it down. Then get back in the water!
Video analysis is one of the most valuable tools we use throughout our retreats. It allows you to slow things down, see exactly what’s happening on the wave and understand the small details that are often impossible to feel in the moment.
We’ll combine video analysis with in-water coaching, with the focus naturally adapting to the conditions and your individual goals. You’ll see what’s working, identify what’s holding you back and take the feedback directly back into the water the next session.
꩜ Life on the Island (and boats!)
You’ll be based at Awera Resort, an oceanfront surf-focused resort with direct access to world-class waves by boat. Each day is shaped by the surf schedule with experienced guides ensuring you’re surfing the right waves at the right time. Every morning we’ll jump on our private boat, check out a few spots, surf our brains out for hours and hours, come back for breakfast and/or lunch and then do it all over again in the afternoon!
꩜ Slow Evenings & Jungle Living
Back at the resort, everything is designed for recovery and relaxation. You’ll share ensuite jungle bungalows (with AC), multiple pools, yoga twice a day, an open gym and a beautiful spa. Not to mention the 5* Coccü Restaurant (the best in all of the Mentawais!) with an à la carte menu boasting starters, main courses, side dishes and desserts all made fresh onsite.
Every Wednesday there’s a Cocktail Party around the pool and on Saturday’s we have a BBQ on the beach with a huge bonfire.
OUR 10 DAYS SURFING TOGETHER
(twice a day every day if you want!)
Which retreat is for me?
March
Choose March if you want:
→ More forgiving, playful conditions.
→ Quiet line ups and lots of space to practise.
→ Focus on positioning, wave selection, speed generation and turns.
→ Building confidence with the most encouraging and supportive all-girls line up!
April
Choose April if you want:
→ A mix of playful and more powerful waves.
→ To push yourself without committing to peak-season conditions.
→ Focus on drawing cleaner lines, sharpening your cutbacks and finding a few barrels
→ To share a line up with girls who will scream you into the set waves of the day!
May
Choose May if you want:
→ Powerful, consistent swell (we hope!)
→ More challenging conditions.
→ To refine technique, push your limits, chase heavier, more hollow waves and barrels.
→ The start of the peak-season Mentawai experience with girls who send it as hard as you!
Complete our Enrolment Form to tell us a little about your surfing experience, current level, surf goals and what you’re hoping to get from the retreat. We’ll take a look and get back to you with our recommendation on which retreat we think will be the best fit.
We may also ask you to share some surf footage, giving us an even better feel for your surfing and helping us make sure you’re joining us at the right time of year, with the right group of girls!

Female surf coach, surf guides and loving hosts <3
Community of lifelong surf sisters :)
We are beyond stoked to introduce you to Grace, our surf coach from New Zealand, who started surfing at just 10 years old. She’ll be in the water with you, helping with positioning and wave selection, as well as leading our video analysis sessions and surf mobility classes to support your progression both in and out of the ocean.
Grace gained her ISA coaching certification at 16 and began coaching soon after. Since then, she has worked across New Zealand and Australia, with seasons spent guiding in the Maldives and working closely with us at Oumono Club in the Mentawais. She started competing from the age of 11, including spending time on the World Qualifying Series and representing New Zealand at the World Surfing Games five times.
Meet your Surf Coach
Grace
All of our retreats are designed as guiding and coaching-focused experiences. Throughout the week, you’ll work on your technique closely with Grace through a combination of:
In-water coaching
Video analysis sessions
Surf-specific mobility training
Through her coaching, Grace draws on her background as a naturopath and her journey through competitive surfing. Her ‘Flow with Grace’ philosophy creates a supportive space to build confidence, develop technique and feel more in control of your surfing.
We feel incredibly honoured to have her as part of this retreat because sharing the line-up with this woman is the most motivating surf experience you’ll ever have!
Meet your Surf Guide
Courtenay
Having spent the past three seasons living on the island, Courtenay knows this part of the Mentawais better than most. With a serious obsession for glassy sunrise sessions and secret-spot adventures, expect that 5:30am alarm to become part of your daily surf routine.
She knows exactly which waves light up under every swell and wind direction, so you’re guaranteed to be in the right spot at the right time.
Each evening, Courtenay will review the forecast and map out the plan for the next day, giving you a rough idea of what to expect and where we’ll be surfing together. She’ll arrange the boats twice a day to take us to the most ideal spots, where together her and Grace will help you get into position for the sets, call you into the best waves and share their insight to make the most of our 10 days in the water together.
Meet your Camera Queen
Rose
Rose is our in-water photographer, capturing everything from your best waves to your even better wipeouts throughout the retreat. Shooting from the water allows her to capture your maneouvres up close, whilst our local videographer will film from the boat to get everything from the take-off to the dismount.
Beyond that, Rose captures the in-between moments — the laughter in the lineup, the post-surf glow and everything that makes the experience so special — so you’ll leave with memories to hold onto long after the retreat.
Once the retreat has ended, you’ll receive an edited selection of stills and videos from Rose, as well as every surf clip filmed by our videographer to support your surf progression.
