Picture this…
A house overflowing with electric female energy—surf coaches, skate instructor, chef, yoga teacher, camerawoman, us and you, all under one roof, sharing stoke, waves, and stories for an entire week.
Imagine
Waking up to a buzz in the air, a group of women all in the same flow. Everything is taken care of. The smell of fresh croissants carries you down the stairs, guiding you to a breakfast spread where we gather around the table, still high from last night's sunset session. Conversations pick up where they left off, and the collective euphoria hangs in the air like a shimmering disco ball.
Experience
Days filled with beach hangs, surf sessions, nourishing food, soul-calming yoga, surf workshops, and video analysis to fine-tune tomorrow's ocean rides. Each day feels like the dream we all seemed to share the night before.
We invite you to a place close to our hearts—where we met, fell in love with surfing, and return to year after year. This retreat is designed for women at a beginner to intermediate level—whether you're riding your first wave or refining your skills, you'll find the support, space, and encouragement you need to take your surfing to the next level.

We’re opening the doors of the villa of dreams for 10 women. Nestled beneath the pine trees, you have a breathtaking place to hang out with your new girl gang.

-
The villa has 7 spacious bedrooms, each with a private bathroom and a unique design to create rooms with personality.

Located on a quiet street at the very heart of Hossegor, the villa is only a stone's throw away from the vibrant surf town. The location of the villa is perfect for walking to the beach or taking a stroll around the lake. Don’t feel like walking? Don’t worry - we provide bikes for everyone so you can cycle around the streets with the sea breeze in your hair.

THE SURF
-
Surfing will be our obsession this week! We will always make sure to paddle out when the conditions are best for that day. Our retreat includes 5 lessons, each 90 minutes long, led by 2 incredible women at Coco’s Surf School.
Our female instructors will provide professional coaching tailored to your level, specifically designed to help you improve quickly and efficiently. Our Hossegor retreat program is tailored towards beginner and intermediate surfers.
We can’t wait to introduce you to our amazing team of women and share our years of experience with you!
-
Video analysis is incredibly beneficial - yes, sometimes it can be humbling, but remember it is always rewarding.
That’s why during our retreat every lesson will be recorded, allowing us to cosy up in the villa’s sitting room and relive our wave dancing after every session.
We’ve seen our own surfing transform through video analysis. We spent all of last September in Hossegor paddling out with our girls and an iPhone in a waterproof casing! We then reviewed the footage over brunch and shared tips and advice - not just from our own waves, but by watching each other’s too! It’s a fantastic learning experience and provides you with endless surf footage to watch back and share with friends.
-
To coincide with the surf lessons, we’ll also run daily workshops to help you better understand the technical aspects of surfing. From surf theory and forecasting, to confidence-building and paddle practice, each workshop has been designed with years of experience in mind.
The theory workshops go hand-in-hand with the surf lessons and are just as important and beneficial in your transformation from whitewash warrior to green wave hero. Our goal is for you to leave the week with all the knowledge and tips you need to feel confident enough to continue surfing on your own.
More confident, independent women in the line up? Yes please!
-
The best land training we can recommend is surf skating. Whether you’ve never stood on a skate board before or want to fine-tune your skills, these classes will leave you wondering how you ever managed without a surf skate!
With so many transferable skills such as pumping, balance, body posture, and weight distribution—these classes will rapidly improve your technique when you're out in the water. Led by your hosts and your surf coach, it’s guaranteed to be a lot of fun. Feeling nervous? Don’t worry, we provide all the necessary safety equipment!

THE YOGA
-
During this week-long retreat we offer 5 yoga sessions with yogi and close friend Caro. Caro’s yoga is not just a class but a whole experience, altering your mindset and leaving you in a dreamy and serene state long after you’ve left the mat. Not only will her yoga help you prepare for and recover after surf sessions, it will also help you cultivate a state of calmness both in and out of the water.
-
Depending on your energy levels and state of mind, Caro will guide the group through workshops, journaling practices or ceremonies to enhance your experience.
Caro is trained in cranio-sacral therapy, a gentle osteopathic touch that helps to release stress and pain accumulated in the body. Private sessions can be arranged whenever you are in need of some extra TLC on the retreat (not included).

MEET YOUR
Hostesses
Courtenay
A British mermaid who left behind the corporate 9-to-5 world for a life of salty skin and beach commutes. A decade later, immersed in all things surf, she hasn’t looked back since. Courtenay is the team’s organiser, and her superpower is making sure everyone is having a good time. She does this effortlessly with her caring, fun-loving nature, and the smile she brings to every surf session (ask anyone she has ever surfed with!), meaning even the difficult sessions are turned into the most fun and memorable ones.
Courts has been managing surf camps, running surf retreats and surf guiding for several years now, she’s travelled and surfed in more places than we can remember, and hasn’t once lost her froth or stoke along the way, which means she is your perfect host for turning any surf holiday into an experience you’ll never forget.
Bring this girl a sweet treat, and you’ll be friends forever.
Mykaela
A funky sock enthusiast and Northern lass who has been chasing the sun and waves for the past decade. She had her first taste of working in the surf industry over four years ago when she worked at a surf camp in South West France, and every decision since has been centred around sustaining this lifestyle. The team's cheerleader, it has been said Myks’ wave-catching "whoop-whoop"s and "wow"s can be heard from the beach. She’ll be there to support you on land and in the ocean.
Be ready for some loud laughs, surf silliness, and a lifelong friendship with a mermaid who will make sure your surf holiday is a memorable one.
A second sweet treat enthusiast, who will appreciate the same edible gifts as Courts!

Dream team
Annelies
Hi, I’m Annelies! I was born and raised in Belgium, where I trained as a trampolinist, fostering a deep love for movement and sports. I discovered surfing at 16 during a trip to the southwest of France, and from that moment on, I was hooked. The ocean completely changed the course of my life.
After completing my Master’s in Physical Education, I spent the next ten years traveling the world, snowboarding, surfing, and living my dream. Eventually, I returned to France and made another dream come true—moving to Hossegor and opening Coco Surf School.
Coaching has always been at the heart of what I do. As a former competitor, it felt natural to become a sports teacher, personal trainer, surf coach, and snowboard instructor. But for me, coaching is more than just teaching technique—it’s about building trust, creating connections, and ensuring every student feels safe, supported, and seen.
I’m beyond excited to be part of the Oumono Club retreat this September. There’s something truly special about guiding women on their surf journey, and I can’t wait to share this unforgettable experience with all of you. Surfing opened up an entirely new world for me, and I’ll be there to help you catch your first wave!
Hallo! So surfing came onto my radar in my mid-20s. I worked at a summer camp in Cantabria where the surf coaches inspired me to give it a try. With a Master’s in Exercise Science and Physical Education, and as a certified snowboard instructor, becoming a surf instructor felt like a natural next step.
Like for many, surfing has had a huge impact on me. It humbles me, connects me to beautiful people, places, and cultures, and has given me lifelong friendships—one of them being Courtenay. We met in a small coastal town in New Zealand, which I’m lucky enough to call home.
Growing up in the competitive world of artistic gymnastics in Belgium, I found real purpose in coaching. My teaching style is all about creating space—without self-judgment or comparison—where you can feel supported, celebrated, and safe.
What I love most about surfing—and being part of Oumono Club—is how it brings people together. The best moments I’ve had were spent surfing daily, sharing meals, playing cards, comforting each other, and living in sync with the ocean—not the clock. These are the experiences I’ve shared with Courtenay and Mykaela, and the ones I hope to recreate with Oumono Club. I can’t wait to connect with passionate women and support the crew with a confidence-building approach to growth. See you in September, ladies!
Anneleen
Salut! I’ve been teaching yoga for the past four years, between the beautiful island of Oléron in France and the other side of the world. My journey with yoga began over a decade ago, during my midwifery studies, when I fell in love with the practice—and it’s been a part of my life ever since.
I trained in Vinyasa, Hatha, and Yin Yoga in Costa Rica and India, and my approach is rooted in accessibility. No matter your experience, body type, or energy on any given day, yoga is always an opportunity to reconnect with yourself.
As a passionate surfer, I’ve designed my classes especially with surfers in mind—helping to prepare your body, breath, and mind for time in the water, and to recover deeply after a day spent in the waves.
I’m also trained in cranio-sacral therapy, a gentle osteopathic touch that supports the nervous system and helps release stored tension and pain. During the retreat, I’ll be offering individual sessions for anyone who feels called to dive a little deeper into their own healing and restoration.
It’s been a dream of mine to be part of a women’s surf experience like this—and I can’t wait to share movement, breath, and meaningful moments with you all.
Caro
Estela
Hola! I’m Estela, a passionate chef from the Canary Islands. I grew up by the sea and fell in love with surfing at a young age. But it wasn’t until I started working seasons in the French Alps that I discovered my love for cooking. Although food runs in my family, becoming a professional chef wasn’t something I had planned. That is, until I realized just how creative, fun, and rewarding the job could be!
Now, I travel the world aboard super yachts, cooking exquisite meals while surrounded by the same ocean that inspired me as a child. The South West of France has become a second home, and I just keep coming back—between the bakeries on every corner, weekly farmer’s markets, and fresh fish on our doorstep, it’s a chef’s dream come true.
For this retreat, I’ve designed a menu that features fresh, seasonal ingredients and mouthwatering French-inspired dishes—perfectly balanced to fuel your body after a day of surfing, yoga, and all the good vibes. I believe food is best shared with others, and there’s nothing I love more than bringing women together around a table, enjoying good food and great company.
Trust me—you won’t be going hungry on this retreat!

Full travel insurance is a requirement when booking onto an Oumono Club retreat. Please ensure your insurance covers ‘disruption to travel’, ‘cover for cancellations’ and ‘sickness’. You may need to add ‘surfing/watersports’ as an additional cover. We recommend you purchase a quality travel insurance with a well-known company - you can compare insurance companies online. Additionally, lots of credit cards offer coverage for short holidays therefore, we advise you to check with your bank beforehand.
-
Fortunately, we have created a quiz on our website to help you with this. We will also ask you some questions on this topic in your pre-trip enrolment form; however, if you’d like some advice from us then please feel free to send us any of your surf footage to hello@oumonoclub.com and we can see where you’re at. Below we’ve included a little breakdown of each level for you to read through:
Beginner:
Either you’ve never surfed before or you’ve given it a go just a few times. Perhaps you struggle to paddle and navigate your way in the water. Maybe you still have some issues with the pop up, use your knee when standing up or easily lose balance and you feel you need to go through the basics again. If you are a first time surfer or a very early beginner then this level applies to you.
Progressor:
You’re new to surfing but you wouldn’t describe yourself as a beginner anymore, instead you’re focusing on new techniques to progress your early surfing skills.
You have the basics locked in and are starting to catch green waves. You’re thinking about trimming left or right along the face of the wave.
Intermediate:
You’ve spent a fair amount of time in the ocean with a surfboard and are comfortable even when slightly bigger sets arrive. You manage your board with control, you can catch waves on your own most of the time, your pop up is often smooth, and you can ride along the green waves with ease. If you are starting to make small turns and attempting pumping, we’d recommend this level for you.
Advanced:
You are now looking for more challenging waves and are comfortable on your shortboard/mid length and/or longboard. This level is for those of you who know your way around the line up and can take waves totally independently. If you are now wanting to work on more advanced skills, such as bottom and top turns, cutbacks, cross stepping etc. we advise this level for you.
-
We love that you're keen to surf as much as possible and totally understand the addiction! During our retreat, there will be 5 x 90-minute surf sessions. Each surf day, we will choose the best time to run the lesson, depending on the conditions, tides, wind, etc. We want you to have the best session possible and get as much out of this week as you can. So, rather than tire ourselves out with multiple sessions or paddle out as many times as possible just to clock up the minutes in the ocean, we recommend sticking to one epic session per day, instead of two average ones.
However, if you still feel you haven't had enough surfing in a day, you are welcome to venture out to practice on your own. Please note, any free surf sessions will be unsupervised with no instructor present and board hire outside of lessons will be an extra charge. Please make sure you are comfortable on your own in the water and have observed the conditions before paddling out (see our safety tips for surfers post on Instagram for further advice).
-
We’ve specifically chosen to run the Hossegor retreat in September, a time of year when the waves are more reliable and the water is less crowded. We've spent countless Septembers in Hossegor and have never been disappointed, it’s very rare that the conditions don’t allow us to get in the water at all. However, the ocean is unpredictable so it is important to remember the waves change on a daily basis and depend on various factors (swell, wind, weather conditions) therefore, we are unable to guarantee clean perfect waves.
Included in the itinerary is a day trip to one of our favourite cities in the Basque Country. We’ll organise this trip around the surf conditions or see it as an opportunity as a midweek rest day.
If on the rare occasion there are two days with no surf we’ll try to make it up to you the next day with an extra surf so you don't miss out.
-
We set the surf schedule a day ahead in accordance with tides and changing conditions. Once we know the surf time, we schedule the other activities around the lessons. We’ll constantly keep you posted with daily plans and any changes to our itineraries. Welcome to the adaptable life of a surfer!
